The entire value chain of our full services would span from in-depth technical assessment, monitoring programme, evaluation and recommendation of cost-effective solutions, implementation and tracking of the measures follow by O&M services. Tan Kok Meng
Prior to setting up 8TEQ Environmental Pte Ltd, Kok Meng is with Phoslock Environmental Technologies as a specialist consultant on environmental modelling and assessment using the company Phoslock product. He joined DHI Water & Environment (S) Pte Ltd in Jun 2014 as a Senior Water Resources Engineer under Modelling and Hydroinformatics Department in DHI. Before joining DHI Singapore, Kok Meng worked as a Senior Engineer cum Principal Specialist in Public Utilities Board (PUB), Singapore between Jun 2001 and May 2014. In PUB Singapore, Kok Meng’s main responsibilities included areas ranging from flood modelling, flood forecasting and water quality modelling. In addition, he was also in charge of managing the operation management system in PUB and the contracts for real-time monitoring networks for water quality and flow gauging. Furthermore, Kok Meng also had operation and maintenance experience of wastewater treatment as well as refuse incineration plants. He received his B.Sc. (Electrical Engineering) and his M.Sc. (Electrical Engineering) from the National University of Singapore in 1996 and 2003 respectively. Kok Meng also received his M.Sc. (Instrumentation) from the University of Manchester, UK in 2005. His research interests include urban planning and water management, surface water hydrology, data assimilation, flood modelling, monitoring and management, flood forecasting, flood risk assessment as well as water quality management, monitoring and modelling.
Dr Hans eikaas
Dr Eikaas moved to Singapore in June 2005 after completing his Ph.D. from the University of Canterbury, NZ. He spent the first year in Singapore looking after his newly born daughter, then went to Anchorage, Alaska for post-doctoral work. In 2007, he joined the Public Utilities Board Singapore (PUB) as the resident principal limnologist. In PUB, he established the Waterways Health & Limnology Branch, comprised of a group of engineers and water scientists looking into integrated catchment water quality management and modelling. This group now oversees Singapore’s nationwide water quantity and quality monitoring system consisting of a network of water quality profilers in the reservoirs, rain gauges in the watersheds, level and discharge stations in reservoirs and catchments, and a dedicated weather radar system, all integrated with real-time predictive water quantity and quality forecast models. After his time in PUB, he worked three years in the DHI Water & Environment (S) Pte Ltd, where he headed the Environmental Technology and Chemistry Department as well as the Ballast Water Technology and Innovation Centre.
Dr Eikaas worked for DairyNZ where he was tasked with improving water quality in dairy catchments across New Zealand. This entailed setting up a national water quality modelling system that used data from national water quality monitoring stations and a range of geospatial data to calculate pollution loads entering rivers and streams from the largely agricultural landscape in New Zealand. As a part of his work scope, he also evaluated and implemented water quality improvement technologies such as treatment walls using environmentally friendly solutions, seepage and treatment wetlands, riparian management and other technologies. Research interests include biology & biogeography; effects of migratory barriers on dispersal; fisheries; stream, river and wetland ecology; tropical and temperate limnology; land-use change and environmental impacts; ecosystem processes; environmental chemistry; toxicology; coastal geomorphology; and numerical water quantity and quality modelling.
Dr parasuraman suresh babu
Dr Suresh is one of the Co-founders and Director of 8TEQ Environmental Pte Ltd. He is also a founder and director of Kalingu Consultancy, Singapore which was established in Dec 2017. Earlier, Dr Suresh headed the Water Resources Section in DHI Water & Environment (S) Pte Ltd from Nov 2010 to Dec 2017. He also worked as an Engineer in Public Utilities Board Singapore (PUB) between Dec 2006 and Oct 2010.
Dr Suresh’s technical expertise is more than 17 years’ in the water resources and hydrology domain; commercial and open source software applications in the water resources, hydrological, hydraulic and hydrodynamic (1D to 3D) modelling; flood modelling and mapping, flood risk assessment, flood monitoring and management, flood forecasting and warning system, rainfall forecasting, Flood reduction and climate resilient infrastructure development, surface and groundwater hydrology, reservoir management, drainage design and hydraulic modelling, rainfall runoff modelling, hydrodynamic modelling, hydrological modelling, storm water management and drainage design, Integrated urban water management, disaster risk assessment, water sensitive urban design (WSUD or LID or ABC or sponge city concepts), decision support systems (DSS), urban water management, probabilistic risk assessment, climate change impact studies, site specific engineering studies, coastal and inland adaptation studies, environmental impact assessment, groundwater modelling, salt water intrusion studies, evaporation studies, sewer network modelling, mini hydro power plants feasibility studies, smart water management, irrigation water management, peatland water management, watershed management and river restoration, remote sensing, geographical information system (GIS), and water quality monitoring and modelling. Dr Suresh has extensive international experience (Projects and Proposals) especially within Asia Pacific region (especially, Singapore, Indonesia, Philippines, Brunei, Vietnam, India, Nepal, China, Thailand, Malaysia, Australia, Cambodia, Myanmar) as well as outside APAC region. He has work experience on World Bank and ADB projects around the APAC region.
Choo Chun Keong
Choo Chun Keong founded NexusBit Integral Pte Ltd in 2014. The company specialized in electronic and system design. NexusBit has spear-headed several projects that bring novel concepts to system implementation and actual deployments. These include on-going R&D collaborations with National University of Singapore (NUS), Public Utilities Board Singapore (PUB) and ST-Engineering. Concurrently, from 2018 to 2019, he was also the technical director of a business unit in Recirculating Aquaculture Systems. Before starting NexusBit, Chun Keong was working in Tritech Group Limited (2010-2013) where he was heading the Environmental Monitoring Business Unit. He oversaw the unit’s business development and started the first island-wide (Singapore) reservoirs water quality profiling and on-line monitoring system for the PUB. He also led Tritech in its first World Bank Ganges River (India) on-line water quality monitoring project. Chun Keong was the General Manager and Partners of SysEng (S) Pte Ltd, an engineering company specialized in M2M and IoT solutions, from 2005 to 2010. In 2010, SysEng was acquired by Tritech Group Limited. From 1999 to 2004, Chun Keong began his career as an engineer in DSO National Laboratories and won several awards during his service. He received his B.Eng. (Electronic and Electrical Engineering) and his M.Sc. (Computer Control and Automation) from Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in 1999 and 2002 respectively.
